After prepping the teeth, your dentist will put in your temporary veneers. For a week, this will be your trial smile. After a week, you and your dentist will discuss any changes that you want made. Then the permanent ones will be created.

Your dentist will discuss whether local anesthesia is needed. Veneers are bonded to the prepared teeth with dental cement, which may be hardened with a visible-light curing device. Temporary sensitivity can occur. Ask your dentist which pain medicine, if any, is appropriate for you, and report persistent or worsening pain.

Veneer lifespan varies with the material, bite, oral habits, and home care. Brush and clean between teeth daily and attend regular dental visits. Your dentist will assess wear, damage, decay, and fit to decide when a veneer needs repair or replacement rather than following a fixed replacement date.
